Community Support: FAQs
Who makes the decisions around charitable giving?
InterMed’s Community Support Group decides on completed applications that have been screened for eligibility.
Can I speak before the Community Support Group to present my application?
Unfortunately, because of the large number of requests, we aren’t able to provide that option. If the Community Support Group has follow-up questions, we will reach out to you. Please send inquiries to communitysupport@intermed.com.
May I make an informal request by email, phone or in person to individuals I know at InterMed?
To ensure consistency and fairness in our process, the Community Support Group will only consider completed applications submitted for eligible organizations.
If InterMed has previously donated to us or sponsored our event/program, do I need to submit a formal application?
Yes. All requests must use the application form and provide supporting documents to be considered.
I sent an email blast about our funding needs but have not heard back from InterMed. Why?
Please submit a completed application if you would like your organization’s request to be considered by the Community Support Group.
My organization does work statewide. Would we be eligible for support from InterMed?
Your application would be considered if it meets all the eligibility criteria, including having a meaningful impact on the residents of Greater Portland.
My organization focuses on healthcare outside of the United States and is based in Greater Portland. Would we be eligible for support from InterMed?
Your application would be considered if it meets all the eligibility criteria, including having a meaningful impact on the residents of Greater Portland in terms of healthcare and/or enhancing social determinants of health.
I work at InterMed and know of a great cause that deserves our support. How do I get it considered for funding?
You can provide the information on this webpage to the point person at that organization so they may complete the application. Alternatively, you could offer to collaborate on it with them before they submit it. The application form is available here and additional information is available on the Community Support Group webpage.
May I directly contact Community Support Group members or other individuals at InterMed to express my support for my application?
The best way to advocate for your application is to include complete, relevant information that speaks to InterMed’s funding priorities as outlined above.
What do I do if I have questions that are not answered here?
You can send an email to communitysupport@intermed.com.
