Construction on Franklin Street Exit 7
The City of Portland is ramping up the construction on the I-295 Exit 7 (Franklin Street).
• The southbound and northbound exit ramps are now closed
• All on and off ramps to and from Franklin Street will close for three weeks, beginning April 19.
Please plan to take alternate routes during this time.
From the north
Take Washington Avenue (Exit 8). Take the first right after the exit, then turn right onto Plowman Street at the stop sign. Take a left at the next stop sign onto Marginal Way (U-Haul will be on your left).
From the south
Take Forest Avenue North (Exit 6B). Take a right at the light onto Baxter Boulevard. Take a right at the light onto Preble Street. There is an entrance to our garage in the back of the building, off Preble Street.
These closures are part of the City’s Back Cove South Storage Facility Project, and are necessary in order to connect the existing utilities within the intersection of Marginal Way and Franklin Street to the new storage tanks under the Preble Street playing fields.
