Vaccine supply
Dear Patient,
The supply of COVID vaccine arriving in Maine continues to be less than we need. Because of these limitations, InterMed is focusing our vaccination efforts on patients 80 years and older, particularly those with a medical condition that puts them at greater risk of serious complications from COVID.
I know many of you are eager to receive the vaccine, and I wish I could provide you with a timeframe. The supply of vaccine we received this week is less than a third of what is needed to vaccinate patients in their eighties and nineties. The Maine CDC continues to lobby for an increase in our allotment, and InterMed is prepared to ramp up our vaccination efforts when that happens.
Until then, we continue to follow the Maine CDC’s phased vaccination plan and ask for your patience and understanding. Rest assured that you are on our list and we will contact you as soon as your are eligible.
We also ask that you do not call or email with questions about vaccine availability so that our phone lines can be free for patients who are calling with acute medical issues. Many of your questions can be answered on the COVID FAQ page of our website, and you can learn more about statewide vaccination sites by clicking here.
Finally, please know how much we value our relationship with patients. Our staff is doing their very best to help each and every one of you. We understand and share your frustrations, and respectfully ask that you treat our staff with kindness. We are committed to getting you vaccinated as soon as it is possible.
Thank you for your understanding and support. Please stay safe,
Dan Loiselle, MD
