Caroline Hodsdon, MD
I came to medicine later in life. With the help of my husband and two children I went to college at Saint Anselm in New Hampshire and went on to Dartmouth Medical School. The four of us moved to Maine for my residency in OB/GYN. My husband was born in Portland and I summered in Maine every year at my mother’s family home. It was definitely a homecoming.
After residency I joined Generations in 1998, which then joined InterMed. Since then medicine and technology have undergone huge changes. With membership in the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists and Society for Laparoscopic Surgeons, I strive to stay current in advanced laparoscopic techniques, including robotic surgery. This makes complex surgeries and hysterectomies possible through tiny incisions.
Growing up in a family with three sisters, I have always valued my relationships with women. OB/GYN has allowed me to continue building relationships through every juncture in a woman’s life. I find it rewarding to pass knowledge on to young physicians and am an instructor at Tufts Medical School and past instructor at University of Vermont Medical School.
Casco Bay calls to me in my free time. I love exploring small coves and tiny islands. Road biking helps me to continually feel like a kid!
