Elizabeth Valentine, NP-DCNP

Nurse Practitioner

My fascination with medicine began at age 8 with an Ace bandage collection. From there, I spent a lot of time exploring, learning and researching various aspects of medicine. At Middlebury, I fell in love with medical anthropology, public health and subsequently the nurse practitioner model that emphasizes holistic, patient-centered care. I later attended the University of Pennsylvania where I earned my bachelor of science and master of science degrees in nursing, the latter with a focus on adult gerontology.

Working in primary care in Maine opened my eyes to the great need for dermatological care. My goal after completing my fellowship at Beth Israel Lahey Health was to return to Maine and provide excellent skin care for Mainers.

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is getting to know my patients and talking to them during full skin examinations about their lives. I am enamored with the visual aspect of dermatology. I love solving skin problems, diagnosing, managing and preventing skin cancer.

When I am not working, I love swimming in the ocean, running trails, cycling, yoga and spending time with my sons and husband.
