Emily Wood, MD

Infectious Diseases Specialist

I specialize in infectious disease at InterMed, treating patients in our Marginal Way office and providing consultations at Portland-area medical centers. I also see patients in the Maine Medical Center Transplant Clinic and Tuberculosis Clinic, and am the program director of the Infectious Disease Fellowship at Maine Medical Center.

I joined InterMed in 2011 and am a graduate of Tufts Medical School in Boston and Bowdoin College in Brunswick. I grew up in southern Maine and am glad to be raising my two children, Natalie and Dylan, here as well.

As an infectious disease doctor, I am required to take a thorough and thoughtful approach when investigating the causes of a patient’s symptoms, which is what attracted me to this specialty. The field of infectious diseases presents a wide variety of conditions. Learning about my patients is both fascinating to me and essential to providing outstanding care.
