Kate Bergeron, PT, DPT, WCS
My name is Kate Bergeron. I am originally from Derry, New Hampshire, and have lived on and off in Maine since 1999. Although I have been lucky enough to live and work in faraway places like Alaska, Arizona, and California, New England has always called me home. I plan to continue to travel for fun, but have made Portland my permanent home.
I graduated from Quinnipiac with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy in 1998, and am a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and its Women’s Health and Oncology sections. My practice has been defined by a passion for learning and growth:
- Completed a transitional Doctorate in Physical Therapy from AT Still University in 2013
- Became a board certified Women’s Health Specialist in 2017
- I’m certified in Astym, a therapy that regenerates healthy soft tissues, such as muscles and tendons, and eliminates or reduces unwanted scar tissue that may be causing pain or restricting movement.
I am happy to treat all orthopedic diagnoses, but have a particular interest in Pelvic Floor and post Oncology Rehabilitation.
I have training in musculoskeletal assessment/correction, Integrative Manual Therapy techniques, post-Cancer rehabilitation, and Pelvic Floor Treatment for men, women and children. In addition to diagnoses typically associated with orthopedic physical therapy, I treat incontinence, pelvic pain, abdominal pain, pregnancy-related pain, and post-surgical issues. Each plan of care is tailored to meet the needs and goals of the individual patient, blending advanced manual therapy techniques with movement for an integrated, whole-body approach that often incorporates yoga and Pilates.
Helping people return to the activities that that they love is profoundly rewarding for me. I love what I do!
When I’m not working, I enjoy crafting, and getting outside to play with friends and family. I regularly walk my rescue pup, Sunny, on the beach at night. We live in such a beautiful place!
