Kinna Thakarar, DO, MPH

Infectious Diseases Specialist

I’m one of the infectious disease (ID) physicians at InterMed. I grew up near Philadelphia, where I received my undergraduate and medical degrees. I studied public health in Baltimore, then completed my residency at Cambridge Health Alliance and my ID fellowship at Boston Medical Center, where I also did HIV/AIDS research. Along the way, I’m grateful to have spent time working in my parents’ home countries, Uganda and Tanzania.

I’m board certified in internal medicine, ID and addiction medicine, and I enjoy working collaboratively with patients to provide quality patient-centered care. Within ID, I have a special interest in HIV, hepatitis C, and antibiotic stewardship.

In my free time, I like cheering on Philly sports teams (for better or worse), snowboarding, traveling and hiking. My husband and I are excited to have moved to his home state of Maine, and we look forward to raising our son here as well.
