My name is Allyson Howe, and I practice family and sports medicine.
I grew up in western New York with a mother who was a nurse and a father who was a leader in community service in the Rotary Club. They showed me firsthand how caring for people in your community could make a difference.
I went to Hobart College and William Smith College for my undergraduate degree and played soccer and basketball there. After graduation from SUNY–Buffalo medical school, I entered active duty with the Air Force, where I practiced family and sports medicine for eight years. Following my military career, I moved to Maine and worked for Maine Medical Center on the faculty teaching staff for seven years before coming to the InterMed team in 2015. In 2017, I retired from the Air National Guard after 20 years of military service.
I practice both family and sports medicine for InterMed and am excited to connect with patients to help them meet their goals. Playing as much as you can for as long as you can is my rule to live by.
Beyond my work at InterMed, I serve as the head physician for the USA Hockey Women’s National Team, and traveled with the team to Pyeongchang, South Korea for the 2018 Olympics. I am married to Dave and am the mother of three awesome kids. If you’re looking for us away from InterMed, check the soccer fields or hockey rinks around town!
