Certificate of Added Qualifications in Sports Medicine
I grew up in Central Massachusetts, where I developed an early love for biology and anatomy thanks to a wonderful high school teacher. I majored in biology at Holy Cross and then went on to do research on HIV at Mass General Hospital while living in South Boston. While in medical school, I fell in love with the breath and importance of Primary care available to Family Practice and completed my residency at Maine Medical Center.
I’ve been a lifelong athlete and downhill skier. I have really enjoyed taking care of orthopedic and muscular conditions while working at local ski clinics. This led me to pursue an additional qualification in Sports Medicine. After 10 years of a mixed practice with primary care and sports medicine I transitioned into full sports medicine about two years ago. I still relied on everything I’ve learned as a primary care physician- my experience allows me to treat patients with injuries or musculoskeletal pain in the context of their overall health.
I live locally with my wife, Amber, and three amazing kids ages 9-14 years old. I love downhill ski skiing all over New England as often as possible. I’m a lifelong trail runner and (as my feet have worn out a bit…. it happens) have more recently gotten into mountain biking. I love movies, naps and ice cream. I enjoy DIY carpentry, plumbing and electric. My wife and I have done the majority of the renovations in our home and camp ourselves.
