Moving to Maine so I could join InterMed was a homecoming for me and my spouse.

We both grew up in New England and I completed my undergraduate studies at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. I then moved to Rochester, New York,  for both medical school and residency training.

Following my training, I worked for several years as a primary care internist and pediatrician in the Boston area before serving as a primary care physician and clinical teacher for medical students, residents and fellows at Penn State Health.

As a doctor, I fully embrace my role as teacher. Whether I am helping my patients explore ways to stay healthy or providing treatment advice based on the latest science, my role is to teach and to guide, but also to listen. The privilege to enter people’s lives and to hear their stories is the gift of primary care medicine.

Through my training in internal medicine, pediatrics and addiction medicine, I take a life-span approach to health, seeing the roots of present problems—and potential solutions—in people’s past experiences.

Calling Portland home is a joy. Though we can never claim to be native Mainers, we feel right at home whether enjoying a meal or a concert in town, volunteering or hopping in the car for a hiking weekend with our German shepherd, Lenox.

I look forward to the honor of getting to know you and your health goals. I pledge to walk with you on your path.
