My name is Karyn King, and I am a family medicine physician.

My passions in primary care include women’s health, preventive care and LGBTQ+ care. As a minority, a woman and a member of the LGBTQ+ community, my goal is to make every patient feel safe, understood and well cared for regardless of their background.

I am a proud (and stubborn) Mainer - I grew up in Aroostook County in Caribou, Maine. I completed my undergraduate training at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, where I studied biology. I completed my medical school training at Tufts University School of Medicine and was a member of the Maine Track class where I was fortunate to spend a majority of my clinical years in Maine working and training at Maine Medical Center. I then moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where I completed my family medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

As a true Mainer, I was drawn back to Maine following residency and recently settled into the Portland area with my wife, Paige, who works as an elementary school teacher for Portland Public Schools. When not working, we love to enjoy the stunning outdoor landscapes southern Maine has to offer - especially the ocean!

As a lifelong athlete, I enjoy staying active walking, running, hiking and playing basketball. In the winter months, I bleed green in support of the Boston Celtics and am always open to recapping last night’s game in detail! My newest hobby is woodworking and I’m looking forward to fine tuning my skills for more DIY projects around the house!
