Hi, my name is Katherine, and I am a family nurse practitioner. Although I became a nurse practitioner later in life, I have a strong background in education. I saw medicine as the road not taken, and when I returned to Maine in 2012, I seized the opportunity to actualize my dream of becoming a primary care provider. I now have over seven years of experience in internal medicine and value being an advocate for patients as they manage multiple chronic conditions.

 

The relationships I form with my patients are the most rewarding part of my job. As an

educator, I believe that communication and guiding patients toward their best health are key to a successful partnership.

 

I first came to live in Maine while attending Bates College, where I met my husband. We both dreamed of returning to Maine to raise our children, and we were able to make that dream a reality in 2012. My two children have grown up in this beautiful area, and I am excited to join the collaborative team at InterMed!

 

People are often surprised to learn that I am an adjunct professor of history, a role I’ve held for over 20 years. I’ve been teaching since graduating from Bates College, starting at the community college when my daughter was born. Throughout the changes in my life, I have remained an adjunct professor. Teaching is an integral part of my life, and this work allows me to continue my passion for the study of history.

 

My favorite activity outside of work is spending time with my husband, daughter and son. It could be anything - just sitting around and talking, hiking, biking, skiing, playing music, playing video games or doing a puzzle. I always drop everything when my kids want to talk, especially now that they are both in college. Time with my family is precious, and I never want to take it for granted.
