Kristina McElhinney, DO
I grew up in Austria, Belgium, Mexico, and Vermont. After attending college in Massachusetts and working at the University of Vermont, I moved to Maine to attend medical school at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. Following my residency at the University of Pennsylvania, I completed a Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowship at Wake Forest.
I was a faculty member for a family medicine residency in Philadelphia, practicing full-scope family medicine with an emphasis on family planning, obstetrics, and women’s health. While there I also taught medical students and residents. When we moved to North Carolina for three years, I practiced geriatric primary care, as well as hospice and palliative care medicine.
As a family physician, I love seeing patients of all ages and am privileged to be able to care for entire families. My approach to medicine is to blend the scientific principles of medicine with the psychosocial needs of patients, to promote preventive medicine, well-being, and engage patients in shared decision making.
I love living in Yarmouth with my husband Brian and our three daughters. In my free time you can find us exploring the Maine beaches, hiking, skiing, cooking, gardening, and listening to music.
