
Sean Lena, DO
InterMed is pleased to welcome Dr. Sean Lena to our Internal Medicine team.
A graduate of Middlebury College, Dr. Lena completed his pre-medical, post-baccalaureate education at the University of Southern Maine before attending the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine.
At UNE, he received numerous honors and accolades, including the Arnold P. Gold Foundation for Humanism in Medicine Honor Society, which recognizes students and physicians who exemplify humanistic care in medicine. Dr. Lena was also honored with three research fellowships, including one to study the efficacy of wilderness first aid training for community leaders in South Sudan, Africa, as well as a Doctors for Maine’s Future Scholarship.
After graduating from medical school, Dr. Lena joined the Internal Medicine Residency program at Maine Medical Center. In 2018, he was selected to participate in a program to improve the health, wellness, and care coordination of New Mainers in Greater Portland. He is also Co-President of the House Staff Quality and Safety Committee and served on the Resident Wellness Committee.
Dr. Lena’s hobbies include cooking, running, camping, climbing, Nordic and telemark skiing.
