Todd Michaelis, MD
My name is Todd Michaelis and I am a family medicine physician at InterMed.
I grew up around Chicago, but my wife is a Mainer. I like to say that just a few minutes after we met, I started planning on relocating to Maine. We can’t agree on which sports team to cheer for (Go Bears!), but we are thrilled to be here.
Our route to Portland has been circuitous and fun. After graduating from Brown University, I built houses on the beaches of North Carolina before joining the Peace Corps. I spent two years in rural Paraguay, working on health outreach and basic sanitation projects. After the Peace Corps, we got married and moved to Oregon. At that point, I turned my focus to medicine and completed a premed postbaccalaureate at the University of Oregon. Then we traded our Oregon green for Syracuse orange while I attended medical school at SUNY Upstate Medical University. I completed my residency at Maine Medical Center.
Along the way, we managed to have three boisterous children, Charlotte, Gus, and Thea. Exploring the coasts and mountains of Maine with our kids has become our favorite pastime, along with sports of any kind, gardening, and reading. I am looking forward to putting down roots in Portland, growing a successful Family Medicine practice, and celebrating the Cubs’ World Series title for the next 108 years.
