USA Hockey names Dr. Howe team physician for the U.S. Women’s Olympic Hockey Team
USA Hockey announced that InterMed Sports Medicine physician Dr. Allyson Howe has been named the team physician for the 2018 U.S. Olympic Women’s Ice Hockey Team.
Dr. Howe began working with Team USA in 2010 as a team physician at the International Ice Hockey Federation Under-18 Women’s World Championship.
A graduate of SUNY–Buffalo medical school, Dr. Howe served in the Air Force, practicing family and sports medicine for eight years. She retired from the Air National Guard in 2016 after 20 years of service.
She joined InterMed in 2015.
“This is truly an awesome opportunity, both professionally and personally,” says Dr. Howe. “I’ve worked with some of these women for nearly eight years, and have watched them grown into incredible athletes and role models.”
Dr. Howe continues to see patients at InterMed, and will be traveling with the team for tournaments, as well as the Olympics in February.
