Mary Jennings, MD, has been elected the new Chief of Pediatrics, replacing Laura Blaisdell, MD, who is stepping down after 6 years in the position.

After completing her pre-medical studies at Columbia University, Dr. Jennings graduated from the Brown University School of Medicine and stayed in Providence for her residency training at the Hasbro Children’s Hospital. In 2003, she fulfilled a lifelong dream and moved to Maine, opening a private pediatrics practice in Northeast Harbor. Her experience in the Pine Tree State also includes per-diem work at Maine Medical Partners. She joined InterMed as a per-diem physician in 2012 and became full-time in 2013.

“In addition to being a well-respected pediatrician, Mary has a strong history of community outreach, and brings great energy to the role, something that’s reflected in her patients’ feedback,” said InterMed President Dr. Phyllidia Ku-Ruth in a memo announcing the promotion.

Dr. Jennings is board-certified in pediatrics, and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Maine American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Maine Medical Association.

Dr. Ku-Ruth also thanked Dr. Blaisdell for leading the department through a period of substantial growth. “She has been a strong advocate of Mary’s, and the two will work together to ensure a smooth transition,” said Dr. Ku-Ruth.

Outside of the office, Dr. Jennings is a busy hockey Mom who enjoys yoga, gardening, bird watching, and walking with her German Shephard, Bruno.
