Hi, I’m Lisa Swanberg, a Family Nurse Practitioner on the Workplace Health team! I’m originally from the small town of Millinocket at the base of Mount Katahdin, and I always look forward to returning each summer to spend time with my family and enjoy the Maine outdoors.

I first earned a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Maine, originally planning to pursue a career in science. After working at the Mass General Institute for Neurodegenerative Disease in Boston, I realized that my true calling was caring for patients directly. That led me to nursing—I earned my BSN from the University of Connecticut and my MSN from the University of Southern Maine.

Before joining Workplace Health, I worked in family medicine where I loved treating patients across the lifespan, helping them focus on wellness, healthy lifestyles, and disease prevention. I’ve also developed a strong passion for women’s health, especially for those navigating perimenopause and menopause, an under-treated and under-researched area of medicine. I’m currently designing a women’s health program within Workplace Health with the goal to educate, advocate and provide direct care to patients right at their place of work.

I truly feel valued and respected as a part of InterMed’s team. Working here has given me the opportunity to use my creativity and passion for innovation to help build something new that makes a meaningful difference. I’m excited to see how this work continues to grow and evolve.

When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me outdoors with my husband, Seth, and our two children, James and Anna. We love hiking, biking, camping, and visiting family in both Caribou and Millinocket. Being in nature and connecting with others is what keeps me grounded and inspired.
